Turkish Ablative Case: -den, -dan
Çıkma Hâli (-den / -dan)
Coming from a place or being afraid of something: evden geldim, köpekten korkuyorum
"From" is an ending on the noun: ev → evden (from home), okul → okuldan (from school). It goes with motion verbs (gelmek, çıkmak), with fear (korkmak), and with the question Nereden? (from where?).
-den after a front vowel, -dan after a back vowel: two-way harmony. After a fıstıkçı şahap letter the d hardens to t: kitaptan, işten, sınıftan.
It is the locative’s sister: evde (at home) and evden (from home) differ by one n. The pronouns are all regular: benden, senden, ondan.
